
I am a vertebrate paleontologist interested in the early evolution of tetrapods. My work started with temnospondyls, their ontogeny and phylogeny.
Current research topics are the origin of lissamphibians, the evolution of larvae, metamorphosis, and neoteny, the evolution and diversification of diapsid reptiles, and the origin of turtles.

My research focuses on the life history strategies of extinct tetrapods. To reveal data on life history traits such as ages at certain biological events, overall growth and growth patterns I study thin sections of fossilized bones (osteohistology).

I am an evolutionary ecologist specialized in life histories of extant vertebrates and how environments impact them. My research is essential for understanding andreconstructing the life histories of extinct vertebrates.

My research investigates methods for reconstructing the physiology of early tetrapods. This involves the inference of soft tissues, such as gills, integument, and musculature, based on osteological correlates preserved in the skeleton. My current focus is on the auditory capabilities of early tetrapods, as indicated by the morphology of the otic notch and the stapes.

I am a vertebrate paleontologist and developmental biologist with specialization in evolution and development of amphibians.

I take an integrative approach that links form, function, ontogeny, and phylogeny to study the evolution of vertebrate feeding behaviour. My current focus is on the evolution of feeding in early terrestrial tetrapods, using salamanders as models. Through morphological analysis and computational modelling, I test hypotheses inspired by insights from my salamander research.

I dedicate my research to the understanding of evolutionary patterns and processes related to the adaptations of the skeleton. Most of my analyses focus on mammals, linking locomotion and life history to their bone histology and microanatomy. I have a particular interest in those clades that ‘returned’ to the aquatic environment such as sea cows, aquatic sloths, and more recently, early whales.

My research focus on Palaeoenvironmental reconstruction and evolution (stratigraphy and sedimentology), aiming to visualize the ancient landscapes and settle vertebrate faunas in their habitats.
I have special interest in the tetrapod ichnological record and the faunal evolution through the Palaeozoic–Mesozoic transition.
